Our mission is to provide the highest quality emergency response to situations that present a danger to our community and its citizens, to utilize modern prevention and education strategies to better protect the lives and property of our community, and to be dedicated to customer and community service. The North Cumberland Fire Department will strive to be proactive in its service delivery to the community, and recognize and plan for the ever-changing needs for the safety of our citizens. We will continuously work to be recognized as an exemplary organization within the fire service through progressive leadership, innovative practices and outstanding customer service.


   About Us

North Cumberland Fire Department serves the residents of Cumberland and the surrounding communities.

The North Cumberland Fire Department employs fourteen fulltime union firefighters and the Chief of the Department. The department is a combination department, therefore utilizing 10 call firefighters.

North Cumberland Fire is governed by a District Board of Trustee's. Day to day business is administered by the Chief of the Department.

The Town of Cumberland is broken down into four separate Fire Districts, protecting approximately 34, 000 residents. All four districts respond on automatic aid to the other three in emergency situations or at the request of the officer in charge of the shift.

The Department has four shifts with three firefighters working two ten hour days and two fourteen hour nights followed by four days off. The Chief, Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal all work five eight hour days, Monday through Friday.

Emergency Opps
Our Fire Department handles many types of alarms including: fire, medical, rescue, and hazardous material alarms. Alarms are handled through One Engine, One 75' Quint, One Brush Truck and Two Command Vehicles. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Fire Prevention

North Cumberland Fire Department considers Fire Prevention an integral part of our fire service effort as well as a nexus to a successful business environment. It is our belief that the impact of fire prevention should be both positive and productive to both the residential and business communities.
Station Tours

From time to time North Cumberland Fire Department Conduct's station tours for local Boy Scouts and Girl Scout organizations as well as varioius other social groups, such as MOM's Club and Senior Citizen Organizations.
Become A Call Firefighter

Considering firefighting as a career? North Cumberland Fire Department periodically  accepts applications for the position of Call Firefighter. Check our Job Opportunities Page periodically for openings. Come learn, train, and experience what it's like to be a firefighter. Any person 18 years of age may qualify.

When you or your loved one need help right away, rest assured that North Cumberland Fire Department responds with the latest medical equipment available. We take your emergency very seriously and strive to provide the best service possible at all times. We're here when you need us, and here when you don't.
Fire Training
The world of firefighting is ever changing. Our department is responsible for the ongoing training and skill development of Firefighters and EMTs. All training is focused on providing and maintaining the highest quality emergency services with safety as our primary concern.
